Final Drives and Travel Motors, What's the Difference?
Contrary to popular belief, a travel motor and a final drive are not the same part, but work together on your machine. One powers the other, and allows your machine to get to where it needs to go!
Travel Motors
The source of power behind the final drive, receiving power from the main hydraulic pump to move the planetary gears located inside the final drive. This gets actuated from the flow of hydraulic fluid from the hydrualic pump, and gets the gears inside the rest of the final drive moving. The flow of power can be seen in the graphic below.
Final Drives
The confusion usually comes in because when someone says final drive, you think of one of these .
While not wrong, this unit comprises both the travel motor and the planetary gears used to move the machine. Generally when someone uses the term final drive they are referring to the entire unit, travel motor included. In the strictest sense, travel motor only refers to the hydraulic motor, and final drive refers to the planetary gear hub and travel motor, or to the gear hub only.
LKC Track Drive Motor is equivalent to NABTESCO,widely used for Mini Excavators, Drilling Rigs, Mining Equipment and other Tracked Equipment.
